Charles Dickens Events in Cheraw

The Chesterfield County Library System will present two special Christmas programs featuring storyteller Tim Lowry during the annual Cheraw Christmas Fest on Saturday, December 3, 2016. “A Charles Dickens Christmas Party” is a family-friendly event that will take place at the Matheson Public Library, and “A Dickens’ Christmas and Dinner Theatre” will take place in the evening at the River’s Edge Restaurant. South Carolina Humanities supported these programs with a Mini Grant in July.

The first event, “A Charles Dickens Christmas Party,” will include period costumes, games, refreshment, and interactive drama featuring Tim Lowry. In character as Charles Dickens, Lowry will lead the audience in a lively game of charades as well as teaching other period games and dances. The free event takes place at 11:00 a.m. at the Matheson Public Library, 227 Huger Street, Cheraw, SC 29520.

The second event is a dinner theatre where Tim Lowry will perform readings from A Christmas Carol. It will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the River’s Edge Restaurant, 162 2nd Street, Cheraw, SC 29520. Tickets for the dinner are $25 per person.
