Freedom Ain’t Free

A screening of the film Freedom Ain’t Free will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in Columbia, SC. The film tells the story of persons who paid steep personal costs while in their pursuit of freedom for the disenfranchised. SC Humanities supported this project with a Mini Grant in May 2014.

Freedom Ain’t Free will examine the stories of several under-recognized Civil Rights heroes, such as South Carolinians George Elmore and Rev. J.A. De Laine and Detroit housewife Viola Luizzo and will encourage civic-mindedness and tolerance.

The October premiere of the film will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at W.J. Keenan High School Auditorium (316 Pisgah Church Rd. Col, SC 29203).
