Gardening Symposium Comes to Columbia

The 2008 Gardening Symposium, sponsored by Historic Columbia Foundation, will take place on March 7-8, 2008 at the Clarion Townhouse Hotel and the historic Robert Mills House & Gardens. The Symposium will celebrate heritage gardening and the history of gardening in South Carolina, particularly as demonstrated through the Robert Mills Historic District in downtown Columbia. SC Humanities funded this event through a Major Grant in September 2007.

The 2008 Gardening Symposium will offer a variety of program formats, including lectures, tours, demonstrations, and a reception with booksigning. Friday, March 7 will feature presentations and lectures by historians and gardening experts, including keynote speaker May Brawley Hill, an author and art historian. Saturday, March 8, will feature tours and hands-on demonstrations in a variety of breakout sessions around the Robert Mills House. Tickets are $40 – $60.
