The Kaminski House Museum will host their annual “Family Fun and Literacy Day” on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The afternoon event will feature storytelling, fun crafts for the fall, treats, and more. SC Humanities supported the participation of the featured storyteller with a Mini Grant.
The Kaminski House Museum has offered a fall Family Fun and Literary Day since 2016. Like previous years, the 2024 event will feature fun activities promoting literacy and community. There will be arts and crafts, a balloon artist, face painting, and special appearances by Ariel and a Pirate. The featured storytellers include Christine Thomas Duran, a local author and teacher who has written more than ten books. Each participating child will receive a free book.
“Family Fun & Literacy Day is one of our favorite events of the year,” commented staff at the Kaminski House Museum. “This event promotes families stepping away from their phones and other devices to spend some quality time together. We focus on the importance of developing effective reading skills at every stage in life. Each child at this event will leave with a free book, and we do request that all children be accompanied with a parent or responsible adult.”
The Family Fun and Literacy Day is a free event provided to the community. More information about the event can be found here. The Kaminski House Museum is located at: 1003 Front Street, Georgetown, SC, 29440.
