The SC African American Heritage Commission is hosting their second annual conference. The overall theme is “Uplifting Voices” with panels covering topics like: Women and Social Movements, the Reconstruction Era, Black food and foodways, methods for Preserving Black History, and current Student Research Projects. The keynote speaker is Civil Rights photographer and Founder/CEO of the South Carolina Civil Rights Museum, Cecil Williams who will discuss the impact of students on the Civil Rights Era in South Carolina. Come join the Commission and others interested in Black South Carolina history and the continued impact and importance of it to today.
