Virtual Book Talk: Christopher Hendrix

August 20, 2020, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. EST

Middleton Place Foundation invites you to join author Christopher Hendrix for a lively discussion of his book, Old Southern Cookery: Mary Randolf’s Recipes from America’s First Regional Cookbook Adapted for Today’s Kitchen.  Learn how historic cooking methods were translated to today’s kitchen techniques, along with historic facts about such things as butchery, firewood cooking, spices used, European origins of certain recipes, dishes brought by slaves to the New World, and even how our cooking utensils have evolved through two centuries.  This free, virtual talk is part of Middleton Place Foundation’s Speaker Series, in partnership with South Carolina Humanities. Register in advance to receive the Zoom link for this event. Middleton Place Foundation will resume the Speakers Series in the Pavilion at Middleton Place National Historic Landmark once it is considered safe to gather.
