Family Fun & Literacy Day at the Kaminski House Museum

The Kaminski House Museum will present their fourth annual Family Fun & Literacy Day on Saturday, October 26 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The event focuses on literacy and its importance in all stages of our lives. SC Humanities supported this event with a Mini Grant.

The Kaminski House Museum will partner with local organizations such as Freedom Readers, Optimism Preventative Services, A Father’s Place, Miss Ruby’s Kids and Freedom Readers to provide an opportunity for families and children to come out and hear storytellers and readers, participate in fall fun activities and learn about the importance of healthy snacks. Events will include the Storytelling Tent, crafts, a healthy foods tent, local entertainment, and a spirited pumpkin patch.

Every participating child has the opportunity to leave the event with a free book. In 2018, partners passed out more than 200 books to children and their families.

The featured storytellers in 2019 are celebrated Gullah storyteller Natalie Daise and North Carolina author Renee Brown.
