Greenville Wordsmiths – Staycations

Greenville Wordsmiths presents in-school writing workshops called “Staycations.” For a “Staycation” program, Greenville Wordsmiths travels to elementary and middle school classrooms with volunteers and a theatrical storytelling activity. They are currently booking programs for the 2018 – 2019 academic year. SC Humanities supported this program with a Fast Track Literary Grant.

A Greenville Wordsmiths’ Staycation is a 90-120 minute workshop during the school day. They travel to the school, armed with volunteers and an engaging literacy activity. In addition, every Staycation results in a published book for each student. Themes for Staycations include: Storymaking (Grades 2 – 4), Choose Your Own Adventure (Grades 5-8), Folktales (all grades), and the Timetraveler’s Guide (Grades 3 – 8).

There is a small fee to book a Staycation; however, there are partial and full scholarships available. They currently still have scholarships available for Spring 2019.

More information about Greenville Wordsmiths can be found on their website at https://www.greenvillewordsmiths.com/, and registration for a Staycation is available here.
