The Pat Conroy Literary Center’s 2018 Visiting Writers Series

The Pat Conroy Literary Center will present their “2018 Visiting Writers Series” from August – December 2018 featuring seven programs and thirteen writers from a variety of genres. These dialogue-driven events are formatted to educate and inspire readers and writers alike. SC Humanities supported this programming series with a Fast Track Literary Grant.

The series will kick-off with “An Evening With Beth Ann Fennelly, Poet Laureate of Mississippi and Author of Heating and Cooling: 25 Micro Memoirs” on Thursday, August 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Hilton Head Island Branch Library. The event is free and open to the public. The 52 micro-memoirs in the genre-defying Heating & Cooling offer bright glimpses into a richly lived life, combining the compression of poetry with the truth-telling of nonfiction into one heartfelt, celebratory book. Ranging from childhood recollections to quirky cultural observations, these micro-memoirs build on one another to arrive at a portrait of Beth Ann Fennelly as a wife, mother, writer, and deeply original observer of life’s challenges and joys.
