The Rainbow Reel

The Nickelodeon Theatre will partner with South Carolina Pride to present a series of three films in September 2019 that will showcase the best in queer film making over the past 30 years. SC Humanities supported this program with a Mini Grant.

“The Rainbow Reel” film series will feature community discussions led by humanities scholars about the importance of queer representation and visibility to American history and culture. The films being screened are: Paris is Burning (September 4), Brokeback Mountain (September 11), and Moonlight (September 18). Each screening will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Nickelodeon Theatre (1607 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201) and will be followed by a scholar-led discussion.
