Georgetown County Museum Summer Speaker Series

The Georgetown County Museum will present their “First Tuesdays Summer Speaker Series” from May 6 – September 2, 2025. Confirmed speakers include Margaret Seidler, Bill Davies, Walter Hill, Elizabeth Chew, and Yancey Green. The programs are free and open to the public. SC Humanities supported this program series with a Mini Grant.

The goal of the First Tuesdays series is to increase public awareness and knowledge of the history of Georgetown County and South Carolina, as well as to build new partnerships and to provide educational opportunities to underserved audiences.

All events are held on the first Tuesday of each month at the Georgetown County Museum from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Presented by Bill Davies
A discussion of the two visits Lafayette made to South Carolina in 1777 and 1825.

Life of a Revolutionary War Patriot
Presented by Walter Hill
Hill, the director of the Horry County Museum, has participated in Revolutionary War re-enactments and living history for the past 19 years. He is an expert blacksmith, historian, leatherworker, and does historical restorations on artifacts and buildings.

The mission of SC Humanities is to enrich the cultural and intellectual lives of all South Carolinians.
