Greenwood Reads 2011

The Greenwood County Public Library will present a community-wide reading event in January and February 2011 featuring the class novel The Call of the Wild by Jack London. There will be a variety of events offered over the course of the program, from book discussions to movie screenings to a photography exhibit. SC Humanities supported this project through a Major Grant in September 2010.

The Call of the Wild is the fictional story of the life of a dog named Buck and his adventures during the Klondike gold rush in the 19th century. The Greenwood County Public Library will distribute free copies of the book to the first 300 participants who request one starting on December 13, 2010. Greenwood County School Districts 50, 51, and 52, The Arts Center, WLMA 1350 AM Radio, and the Emerald City Rotary Club are all partnering with the library to make the community-wide read a success.
