The Blythewood Historical Society & Museum will host several interesting events this fall, including a textile arts event in October and a veterans event in November. SC Humanities supported these programs with a Growth Grant. Funding for the Growth Grants has been provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
On Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., the Blythewood Historical Society & Museum will host a “Textile Treasures Joruney” with artist Susan Lenz. Susan threads her storytelling with her arts quilts in a hands-on lecture as she honors family and memories and leaves lasting treasures for the next generation. On Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., there will be a “Family Event Program to Honor Our Veterans” at Doko Meadows Park in Blythewood. The event will include military exhibits, vintage military vehicles, veterans resources, food trucks, Quilt of Valor, and Purple Heart Town. It is sponsored by the Blythewood Historical Society and the Town of Blythewood. The official ceremony is from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. The event will take place rain or shine.
