Greenwood Reads: The American Revolution in South Carolina

The Greenwood County Library will present their annual county-wide reading and discussion program on the theme of “The American Revolution in South Carolina” in October 2014. The program, which is targeted to both students in grades 6 – 12 as well as adults, will include a wide variety of events and opportunities, including book discussions, lectures, exhibits, workshops, storytelling performances, and film screenings. SC Humanities supported “Greenwood Reads” through a Mini Grant in September 2014.

“The American Revolution in South Carolina” is the 5th annual Greenwood Reads event, and the theme was selected because the Ninety Six Historic Site is located in Greenwood County, providing residents with easy access to information about the impact of the Revolutionary War in the Upstate. Adults will read Someone Knows My Name by Lawrence Hill, and students will read Cast Two Shadows by Ann Rinaldi. The Greenwood County Library is providing 1,500 free copies of these books to participants.
