South Carolina Writers Association Fall Conference

The South Carolina Writers Association will present their annual writing conference on October 21 – 23, 2022 in Pawleys Island. Additionally, there will be a virtual option on October 7 – 9, 2022. There will be workshops, panels, and readings for conference participants, and there will also be two free events open to the general public, a reading and Q&A with poets Ashley M. Jones and Gary Jackson and a Saturday afternoon meet and greet with authors at Litchfield Books. SC Humanities supported this program with a Fast Track Literary Grant.

The in-person 2022 Fall Writers Conference will feature keynotes Ashley M. Jones (Alabama Poet Laureate) and Leigh Stein (Novelist, Memoirist, and Poet), as well as Fiction Faculty Jessica Lee Richardson, Poetry Faculty Gary Jackson, Nonfiction Faculty Ed Southern, Editor Jonathan Bohr Heinen, Agent Felice Laverne, and Agent Amy Bishop. more information about the event, including faculty bios, session descriptions, FAQs, lodging information, and more can be found here: https://myscwa.org/conf_2022. There will be two events that are free and open to the general public. On Saturday, October 22, 3:00 – 4:15 p.m., “In Conversation with Ashley M. Jones and Gary Jackson” will take place at the Waccamaw Library. Also on Saturday, there will be an Author Meet and Greet at Litchfield Books from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. where participants will be able to meet Leigh Stein, Ashley M. Jones, Jessica Lee Richardson, Gary Jackson, Ed Southern, and Susan Zurenda.

The South Carolina Writers Association is a literary arts nonprofit organization offering a supportive environment for people to become better writers. The SCWA, which began in 1990 as the South Carolina Writers Workshop, is dedicated to writers in all genres and levels of writing skill.

The mission of SC Humanities is to enrich the cultural and intellectual lives of all South Carolinians. Established in 1973, this 501(c) 3 organization is governed by a volunteer 21-member Board of Directors comprised of community leaders from throughout the state. It presents and/or supports literary initiatives, lectures, exhibits, festivals, publications, oral history projects, videos and other humanities-based experiences that directly or indirectly reach more than 250,000 citizens annually.
