In an effort to encourage partnerships and cultural exploration at the local level, SC Humanities has launched a new statewide Request for Proposals (RFP) titled “Hometown Humanities.”
SC Humanities seeks proposals from interested nonprofit organizations or institutions designed to highlight an interesting aspect of a community’s local history or culture. Applicants for this grant opportunity are required to partner with at least one, and preferably more, cultural or educational organizations in their community.
SC Humanities has periodically issued themed Requests for Proposals over the years, including “Religion in South Carolina,” “This is Not Your Grandparents’ South Carolina: The Changing Face of the Palmetto State,” “Know Your History, Community, Family,” and most recently “The Common Good” in 2016.
Randy Akers, Executive Director of SC Humanities, says: ““Hometown Humanities” calls for collaboration among community organizations designed to build new partnerships and programs that both encourage outreach to wider audiences and introduce SC Humanities to new constituencies. We anticipate that such collaborations should have a lasting impact in the community.”
Applications responding to “Hometown Humanities” will be accepted during the next Major Grant deadlines on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 and will be in the normal competitive pool for grantreview. Awards will be in the $2,000 to $8,000 range.
