October is nationally recognized as Arts & Humanities Month, a time when we pause to honor the vital role that culture, creativity, and critical inquiry play in shaping our communities, our identities, and our collective future.
While celebrating Arts & Humanities Month, let’s remember that these subjects help us tell our stories and to find new ways of learning, connecting, and creating opportunities.
SC Humanities remains committed to nurturing that promise by supporting communities, sparking conversations, and preserving culture statewide. Through public programs, community partnerships, and storytelling initiatives, we strive to lift up voices, bridge divides, and deepen appreciation for the history and ideas that bind us.
As 2025’s highlight, we are especially proud that on Thursday, October 16 we will host the SC Humanities Luncheon & Awards Ceremony, where we will celebrate distinguished honorees. It is fitting that in this month of cultural reflection, we also honor leaders and scholars whose work has helped communities across the state tell their own stories.
We encourage all South Carolinians to join us this month in exploring, supporting, and championing the arts and humanities — not just because they enrich lives, but because they strengthen the fabric of community itself.
