Resilience and Revolution Speaker Application

To host a speaker in conjunction with your “Resilience and Revolution” display, please complete the application below.

Application Instructions

First Step:

Determine the dates when your community will host the exhibit by working with:

Timia D. Thompson (she/her), Traveling Exhibits Program Coordinator, South Carolina State Museum

Email: tep@scmuseum.org; phone 803.898.4990; mobile 803.629.4379  www.scmuseum.org/explore/exhibits/tep

Second Step:

Review the list of speakers and topics to determine which one you would like to request to come to speak during the time the exhibition will be displayed at your site.  Note that some speakers may need to use Zoom or another online platform. Once you determine which program you’d like to host, contact T.J. Wallace at SC humanities to obtain the speaker’s contact information.

If you are interested in more than one speaker, instead of following the next steps, please pursue a mini-grant application.

Third Step:

Contact the speaker directly to determine if they are available and an acceptable date and time.  Also discuss the topic, venue, equipment needs, and any additional expenses the speaker may require beyond the $350 honorarium that SC Humanities will provide. (The sponsoring organization is responsible for any other cash expenses.)

Fourth Step:

Complete the Resilience and Revolution Speaker Application below at least three weeks in advance of the program date.

Notification of Award:

·       You will receive a response in approximately 7 working days.

·       Awards are based on the availability of funds, potential audience, and evaluations of previous programs.

·       Approved applications will receive an award packet that includes an award letter, evaluation forms, and publicity materials to acknowledge SC Humanities.

Final Step:

Complete and return all forms by the date specified in the Award letter.  If you have any questions, please contact SC Humanities.
