The Heritage Council of North Augusta, the Nancy Carson Library, and the Aiken County Historical Museum will partner together to bring noted author Jason Emerson to Aiken County for a series of four public programs from January 2 – January 4, 2015. Jason Emerson will speak about his book Giant in the Shadows: The Life of Robert T. Lincoln and particularly about Robert Todd Lincoln’s visits to the famous Hampton Terrace Hotel in North Augusta. SC Humanitiessupported this program with a Mini Grant in October 2014.
Author and Lincoln-family scholar Jason Emerson will present at five events in Aiken County in January 2015. Robert Todd Lincoln, son of President Lincoln and president of the Pullman Company, visited the Hampton Terrace Hotel in North Augusta, SC many times. The Heritage Council of North Augusta’s annual commemoration of the hotel’s destruction by fire will take place on January 3, 2015, and Jason Emerson will be the featured speaker. He will also speak at the Nancy Carson Library in North Augusta, the Aiken Visitor’s Center and Train Museum, the Aiken County Historical Museum in Aiken, and at an evening dessert event sponsored by the Heritage Council, the Greater North Augusta Chamber of Commerce, and Carolina Oaks Bed and Breakfast.
