Day of Transformation

Speaking Down Barriers will present their 1st Annual Day of Transformation on May 19 from 10 AM-2 PM in Spartanburg. The event is designed to use dialogue, art, poetry, and creativity to help people think about living together intentionally across human differences like race, culture, and class. SC Humanities supported this event with a Mini Grant.

Speaking Down Barriers is a nonprofit organization that offers spoken-word poetry, transformative dialogue, workshops, and deep listening to communities, organizations, and institutions.  Learn more at:

The Day of Transformation event will include poetry performances, an interactive dialogue about living across differences, and a workshop on using art as a transformative tool. There will also be food tastings, live art being created, and a children’s corner with crafts and activities.

The mission of SC Humanities is to enrich the cultural and intellectual lives of all South Carolinians.
