Hanging on the Edge of Freedom Trail Opens at Hanging Rock Battlefield
Heath Springs, SC – The Hanging Rock Park Day Event will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the Hanging on the Edge of Freedom Trail at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Hanging Rock Battlefield, located at the intersection of Flat Rock Road and Beecher Horton Road south of Heath Springs, SC. This new trail offers visitors a chance to walk the historic battlefield and learn about the Revolutionary War Battle of Hanging Rock which occurred on August 6, 1780. Following will be a cleanup of the battlefield. The event is sponsored by the Friends of Hanging Rock, the American Battlefield Trust, and the South Carolina Battleground Preservation Trust. The Friends of Hanging Rock is a local nonprofit group dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of this important Revolutionary War Battlefield.
