Fast Track Literary Grant Award Amounts Will be Raised Starting September 2

SC Humanities is pleased to announce that the maximum award amount for Fast Track Literary Grants will be raised, effective on the September 2, 2024 quarterly deadline. The maximum amount for Fast Track Literary Grants will be $5,000. Previously, the maximum award amount was $3,000. SC Humanities Board of Directors voted to raise the amount of the awards at a May 2024 Board Meeting in Greenville.

Fast Track Literary Grants are intended to support new or existing public literary programs such as (but not limited to) writers series, festivals, conferences, workshops, or writer’s residencies at schools. The Fast Track Literary Grant also receives support from the South Carolina Arts Commission. The South Carolina Arts Commission is a state agency whose mission is to promote equitable access to the arts and support the cultivation of creativity in South Carolina. The Board made the decision to raise the maximum award amounts for Fast Track Literary Grants to respond to the rising costs of programs and events and to align SC Humanities with other state humanities councils whose grant award amounts have been raised over the last several years.

Executive Director Randy Akers said, “Over the years, SC Humanities has periodically examined costs in doing public programs and have tried to adjust our grant funding level appropriately. SC Humanities believes the Fast Track Literary Grants have an important role in reaching communities throughout the state with literary events and opportunities and are pleased that we still have funds to make those grant awards.”

Fast Track Literary Grants are accepted quarterly. The raised award amount will be implemented with the September 2 quarterly deadline. More information about the Grants Program of SC Humanities can be found on our website on the How to Apply page.
