EdVenture will present a special educational event for children up to age 12 called Festivals of Sharing on December 7 – 9, 2012. Festivals of Sharing is a multicultural celebration of winter holidays from around the world geared to raise cultural awareness and global perspective. SC Humanities supported this project with a Major Grant in September 2012.
Festivals of Sharing will be Columbia’s only multicultural holiday event for children and will spotlight many cultural celebrations, including the Native American MidWinter Festival, Diwali, Eid, Hanukkah, Las Posadas, The Epiphany, Kwanzaa, Lunar New Year, and more. The event will highlight each holiday’s traditions, folklore, foodways, literature, and art.
The Festivals of Sharing event is free with museum admission. The programs will happen daily on December 7 – 9 from 1:00 -4:00 p.m. For a more detailed schedule of events, please contact the office at 803-771-2477.
