Interfaith Partners of South Carolina will present a celebration of the many faith traditions found in South Carolina. The Gathering of Faiths will take place on Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. in Columbia. SC Humanities supported this program with a Mini Grant in November 2012.
The Gathering of Faiths is planned to facilitate positive interaction among people of various faiths, introduce interfaith dialogue to participants, and to celebrate the religious and spiritual diversity of South Carolina. Interfaith Partners’ tagline is “diversity in belief; unity in compassion.”
The Gathering of Faiths will include processions, music, ethnic food, dance, song, drumming, small group discussion, and an interfaith neighborhood that will present ten faith traditions: Baha’i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Native American, Pagan, Sikh, and Unitarian Universalist. The schedule of events is available on the event website: http://gatheringoffaiths.com/. The event is free and open to the public.
The mission of SC Humanities is to enrich the cultural and intellectual lives of all South Carolinians. SC Humanities programs and initiatives are balanced, reflecting sensitivity to the diversity of ideas, encourage open dialogue, demonstrate integrity, and are ethical in operations.
