Greenville Chautauqua Training Institute

Greenville Chautauqua is offering a performer training institute from June 15 – 20, 2012 during the annual June Chautauqua festival in Greenville, SC. The institute is for people who would like to learn to perform as a historical interpreter in the Chautauqua style, from teachers to actors to historians. SC Humanities helped support this training institute with a Mini Grant in December 2011.

The training institute will include 2 classes and discussion each day, observation of festival performances, group discussions after evening shows, and the opportunity to rehearse and give a mini-performance for critique. The faculty includes Caroline McIntyre, Becky Stone, Larry Bounds, and nationally-recognized Chautauqua performer, George Frein. There is limited enrollment, and applications are due by May 15, 2012.
