Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival

The Department of Italian Studies at the College of Charleston will present the 7th Annual Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival on November 7 – 10, 2013 in Charleston.  Seventeen films will be screened over the four-day event, and a special humanities seminar will focus on the film Cesare deve morire (Caesar Must Die). SC Humanities supported this program through a Major Grant in February 2013.

The Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival will use carefully-selected Italian language films to engage community audiences in discussions grounded in the humanities, including history, literature, philosophy, and film criticism. The humanities seminar will especially focus on the power and the transformative nature of the humanities.

The festival will take place at the Sottile Theatre, 44 George Street, Charleston, SC 29401. Tickets will be $8 per person.

More information about the festival, including schedule information and updates, can be found on the event’s Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/FestivalCinemaItaliano or by contacting the festival director Giovanna De Luca at 843-953-5713.
