Virtual Family Fun and Literacy Day

The Kaminski House Museum will present a Virtual Family Fun & Literacy Day on Saturday, October 31st in two sessions beginning at 10 am and 2 pm. The day will feature storytelling, fun crafts for the fall, and spooky treats. SC Humanities supported this project with a Fast Track Literary Grant.

The Kaminski House Museum has offered a fall Family Fun and Literary Day since 2016. In 2020, the event will be virtual for the first time but will have many of the same fun activities promoting literacy and community.

The schedule on October 31 is:

10:00 – 10:15 am – Storyteller Natalie Daise
10:15 – 10:30 am – Spooky Treats
10:30 – 10:45 am – Fun Crafts for the Fall
10:45 – 11:00 am – Special message from Miss Ruby’s Kids

2:00 – 2:15 pm – Storyteller Christine Doran
2:15 – 2:25 pm – Spooky Treats
2:25 – 2:40 pm – Fun Crafts for the Fall
2:40 – 2:55 pm – Storyteller Elizabeth Robertson Huntsinger

Beginning October 1st, the Kaminski Museum will have craft boxes available with items needed to make the crafts demonstrated in our virtual event. The craft boxes will include harmonica sandwiches, book markers, spooky popcorn hands, and pumpkin faces. The boxes can be purchased for $10 on the Museum’s website at

The mission of SC Humanities is to enrich the cultural and intellectual lives of all South Carolinians. Established in 1973, this 501(c) 3 organization is governed by a volunteer 20-member Board of Directors comprised of community leaders from throughout the state.
