Spartanburg Interfaith Connections will present an Interfaith Scholar-in-Residence program in November 2011 featuring noted New Testament scholar Dr. Rabbi Michael Cook. He will present four public programs on the theme of “Modern Jews and Christians Engage the New Testament” at four different venues in Spartanburg, SC. SC Humanities supported this program through a Mini Grant in August 2011.
Spartanburg Interfaith Connections is a partnership between Temple B’nai Israel, Morningside Baptist Church, and USC Upstate that champions interfaith education and study, offering panel discussions, social events, and other educational forums. The 2011 Interfaith Scholar-in-Residence program will present Dr. Rabbi Michael Cook in four lectures about the New Testament:

Dr. Rabbi Michael Cook is Professor of Intertestamental and Early Christian Literatures at Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati. His specialty is the New Testament, and he may be the only rabbi in the United States with a professorial Chair in the New Testament.
