Nelson Chandler is an attorney representing clients in South Carolina state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. With a background in complex civil litigation, Nelson focuses on the active defense of claims on behalf of individuals, businesses, and insurers. His regular areas of practice include professional negligence, employment disputes, governmental liability, constitutional violations, and product liability. Nelson has briefed and argued cases before the appellate courts of South Carolina resulting in published opinions in favor of his clients, and he routinely handles appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Nelson was a partner in a regional firm prior to starting his own practice in 2010, and he acts as local counsel for out-of-state firms in a variety of civil matters. Nelson is a licensed Circuit Court mediator. He is rated as “AV Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell and currently serves on the Board of the South Carolina Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.

Outside of the practice, Nelson enjoys time working on his farm in Williamsburg County, South Carolina and exploring the mountains around Saluda, North Carolina, where he and his family have been restoring a century-old cottage. Nelson is an active member of Indiantown Presbyterian Church, in Hemingway, and he enjoys history, reading, and any opportunity to be outside. Nelson and his wife, Anna, a middle-school Montessori teacher, have two boys, William (12) and George (9). Nelson Chandler serves on the Grants and Program Committee of the SC Humanities Board.
