2023 York County LibraryCon

York County Library will feature a Young Adult Comic Con event on Friday, May 19, 2023, 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. The “LibraryCon” is an annual celebration of comic books, manga, science fiction, fantasy, and cosplaying. SC Humanities supported this event with a Fast Track Literary Grant.

The LibraryCon is a family-friendly pop culture and comic convention. The 2023 featured authors are Amber Smith and India Hill Brown. There will also be games, cosplay contests, crafts, a scavenger hunt, panels, food trucks, and more. The Liberty Book Company will be selling books by the featured authors.

Featured authors:

Amber Smith is the New York Times bestselling author of the young adult novels The Way I Used to Be, The Last to Let Go, and Something Like Gravity. She also has a new middle-grade novel, Code Name: Serendipity. She grew up in Buffalo, NY and now lives in Charlotte, NC.

India Hill Brown is a Carolina native and an author of two middle-grade suspense books, The Forgotten Girl and The Girl in the Lake. Her debut novel was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding LIterary Work in Youth/Teens and a 2020 ALSC Notable Children’s Book. Hew newest title, the YA romance Rhythm & Muse, is releasing in 2023.
