Weaving Communities and Cultures Through Cloth

The Filipino-American Association of Greater Columbia will host a textile exhibit at Richland Library from October 6 – November 21, 2023 to celebrate Filipino American History Month. The exhibit will include a carefully-curated variety of contemporary textiles using natural materials. There are also several collateral public programs planned. SC Humanities supported this program with a Mini Grant.

The “Weaving Communities and Cultures Through Cloth Exhibit” will explore Philippine ancestral weaves that are produced by indigenous communities in the Philippines and the instrumental role that women, who are the primary weavers in the Philippines, have in Filipino communities. The exhibit will be on display at the Main Branch of Richland Library (1431 Assembly St, Columbia, SC 29201).
