The Oxford American South Carolina Music Issue

South Carolina Humanities is pleased to announce its support of Oxford American‘s 21st Annual Southern Music Issue & CD featuring South Carolina!

Oxford American is an acclaimed national magazine dedicated to featuring the very best in Southern writing, while documenting the complexity and vitality of the American South. The music issue is a collector’s item and each issue includes a sampler compilation of songs spanning the 78-rpm era to the present (in CD and digital download formats). Learn more about the Oxford American: https://www.oxfordamerican.org/.

The issue will celebrate the iconic artists of South Carolina, including legends like Dizzy Gillespie, Eartha Kitt, and the Marshall Tucker Band, as well as contemporary voices, such as Iron & Wine, Shovels and Rope, and Ranky Tanky.

To celebrate, SC Humanities is offering our donors of $125 or more a copy of the magazine and its sampler compilation of songs. We only have a limited number of them to give to our Friends, so contact Judy Burke Bynum at judy@schumanities.org or call 803-771-2477 to reserve your copy. You may also make a gift online to participate in this offer.

The mission of SC Humanities is to enrich the cultural and intellectual lives of all South Carolinians. Established in 1973, this 501(c) 3 organization is governed by a volunteer 20-member Board of Directors comprised of community leaders from throughout the state. It presents and/or supports literary initiatives, lectures, exhibits, festivals, publications, oral history projects, videos and other humanities-based experiences that directly or indirectly reach more than 250,000 citizens annually.
