Dr. Randy Akers, Executive Director of SC Humanities, said: “Libraries, museums, historical societies, and other cultural non-profit organizations are at the heart of our communities. They provide jobs for qualified individuals, educational resources and other learning opportunities that enhance the quality of life in our state. Cultural events and programs build community cohesion and pride. They play a vital part in our local economies and often are a significant part our state’s tourism industry. As South Carolina recovers from the pandemic, cultural organizations need funds to stabilize their operations, reengage their audiences, plan new programs, and refill jobs in the cultural sector. SC Humanities is honored to be a conduit of ARP Act funds to build the cultural future of our state.”
